My Introduction

This is my personal introduction. Welcome to English 125, I am happy to help you learn and improve your English skills in this course. We will have many chances for you to develop your skills.
I have lived in the UAE for 2 1/2 years now, but it seems like yesterday that I was arriving from a very cold and snowy place. As you can see from my blog photo I enjoy cycling and even rode my bicycle 1000km from Lhasa, Tibet to Kathmandu in Nepal over the Himalaya mountains. The mountain in the background of my blog photo is Mt. Everest, and the photo was taken at Everest Base Camp on the Tibet side of the mountain. There is a road which allows cars and trucks to drive to the base camp village. but not to the actual base camp which is used for teams preparing to climb Everest, or as the locals call it, Chomolungma - the Mother Goddess.
I traveled with 8 other riders and a support group of two trucks, two cooks and two drivers who set up camp and cooked for us everyday. The only thing I had to do was show up to eat breakfast and be ready to ride every morning. I missed the first two parts of the start of trek from Lhasa because the Chinese authorities gave me some trouble in obtaining my visa for the trip. But, I caught up to the group on the third day after traveling to Lhasa by myself and staying there for two days to acclimate to the altitude (3500m!).
Speaking about altitude, we mostly cycled between 4000 - 5200m, except the second last day when we started at over 4000m and after a high pass we rode downhill for almost 90km out of 120km!
It was a great adventure which I can recommend to anyone who's looking for an exciting holiday that's fun but tough! I would do it again, but not until after a few months.
